Tax

There are no taxes in Utopia. Here's a list showing many of the taxes which are eliminated.

Airline tax, alcohol tax, automation tax, capital gains tax, carbon tax, car tax, corporation tax, crypto tax, diverted profits tax, empty house tax, financial transaction tax, flat income tax, frequent flyer tax, graduate tax, import tariffs, income tax, inheritance tax, internet tax, junk food tax, luxury goods tax, mansion tax, married tax allowance, packaging tax, payroll tax, petrol tax, plastic bag tax, plastic tax, property tax, punitive superstore tax, punitive wealth tax, recreational drugs tax, religious tax, sales tax, tobacco tax. This also includes rates, GST, VAT and any other tax not listed.

There are no fines or tickets issued by government agencies because none exist. Private businesses can issue fines in line with their policies.

Subsidies

In Utopian Realism, there are no subsidies, grants, benefits, vouchers, schemes, credits, provisions, initiatives or bonuses. This is because there's no government or taxation, thus no monopoly to redistribute funds.

The only exception is in the transition period from dystopia to utopia. When property is auctioned from the "public" to the private, the profit generated as Freedom Credits are then pushed back into the economy via one time grants. This is to facilitate the independence of the private sector in handling all goods and services and to stimulate innovative technologies.

Police & Security

In today's system, police are incentivized to perpetuate crime, as their salaries depend on its existence. More crime leads to stronger arguments for higher pay and greater theft from the public. Modern police are responsible for at least 95% of daily crimes, as their existence enables taxation, which as a theft occurs billions of times per day during every transaction.

A civilised system applies the principles of capitalism. In this case, competition. Competing security agencies are incentivized to perform equitably and efficiently. If they don't, they lose customers, their business and livelihoods. Private security must earn their salary, just like everyone else, not steal it.

What's to prevent inter-agency conflict? Objective standards of practice and law. No one wants to risk the real possibility of being sued, losing their jobs or imprisonment. Which means that security agencies and their enforcers are devoted to understanding their roles and responsibility's maintaining the peace. If a security officer lacks discernment and performs poorly, they're held liable for their actions.

Concomitantly, this accountability ensures the best possible security and civility in our towns and cities. When the people understand their security forces are motivated by profit and have to deliver results to earn their wage, they feel a genuine sense of safety which is unknowable in traditional policing systems.

Payment can be per use, like with other contractor agencies, or via insurance policies. This way, you only pay for the service you require.

Courts & Law

Why is there little to no justice in today's courts? Because there's a monopoly on justice. Which is a perverse inversion of the very concept of justice. It's unjust to have only one conflict resolution agency, which coincidentally works for a monopoly dependent upon theft to exist. As with all monopolies, customer service, quality and efficiency decrease while prices increase. Modern courts are a perfect demonstration of how destructive and power transferring monopolies are.

The orderly approach of UR isn't that of subordination to rulers, but to rules. Many believe today we're all under the law, but this is only partially true. The ruling class are able to get away with literal murder and tyranny because much of the law today is not objective, but subjective, fabricated upon the irrational desires of the greedy and corrupt.

In UR, there are no rulers in charge of everyone. The law is in charge. UR is governed by timeless, universal, objective morality. Rights are eternal and aren't subject to change. Rulers can and do become corrupt, but proper laws and principles don't.

Unfortunately, there always is conflict regarding the interpretation of the law. Fortunately, when the law is simplified to a few key principles and widespread via education, misinterpretation becomes uncommon.

Courts operating as private businesses have a strong incentive to build reputations based upon equitable outcomes. Their ability to profit and survive depends upon the quality and justice of their results. The best, most objective law naturally becomes standard practice and prevents corruption.

Education

In UR, there's only private education. Parents are free to home school or send their children to schools of their choice. I resonate with the idea of teachers selling their curriculum to schools, which hire them based on their skills and quality of programs. If a teacher can't offer a strong course, there's no reason for them to be hired.

When parents shop for schools and teachers, it's up to the educators to sell their offerings. A parent might choose School A for Mr. X in math, Mrs. K in geography, Mr. T in philosophy, and Mr. M in woodwork, while also wanting their child to attend School B once a week for Professor S's excellent finance class.

Instead of programming children what to remember, they'll be taught how to think. Centralized indoctrination is replaced by privatized education.

Various teaching methods can be employed, my favourite being genuine engagement. It is known that children learn best when they desire to learn. If they're disruptive or uninterested, they can leave and return at any time, fostering a sense of empowerment. The possibilities for teaching strategies are endless and should be tailored to fit both teachers and students.

Perhaps the most important topic of all that should be included in curricula is the thought experiment of creating the perfect civilisation. There's no better way for a human being to understand morality and the functionings of the world than to create a hypothetical civilisation, especially from the perspective that they would start in the lowest class. There's also no better way to prevent corruption and devolution back into states of tyranny.

Hospitals, Ambulances, Medical

When the medical industry becomes fully privatized, quality drastically improves and prices eventually fall. Today, many non-drug based systems of healing are outlawed by governments, as their methods produce results that big pharma doesn't approve of, such as, healing people.

In UR, free competition allows traditional methods that have had success for centuries and to experiment with remedies of the future. Without a regulating agency prohibiting treatments which consenting adults agree to, the medical system advances tremendously.

Local doctors, hospitals and ambulances are privately owned and operated. Competition ensures each company provides the best results. If they don't, they lose customers and face law suits in cases of negligence.

Roads

All roads are privatized in UR, allowing private owners to charge drivers and generate profits, whilst ensuring people only pay to drive on roads they actually drive on.

In today's system, you don't just pay for the roads you drive on, but for roads on the other side of the country you never drive on! You're charged via income tax, GST, petrol tax, license and registration fees etc. Plus, if you drive on a toll road, you're charged again!

When you break government policies by traveling 5km's over the limit, you're fined hundreds more. Public roads are simply far too expensive for most people to afford. In a privatized system, road policies are set by the owners and most become objectively and rationally standardised. Experimentation, trial and error decides the best rules for safety and speed.

Etags in every car allow road owners to synchronize etag readers for easy universal payment. This makes it effortless to pay, without slowing you down for toll booths and drastically lowers prices as there are no labor costs. In UR, you only pay for the roads you drive on, making privatisation significantly cheaper.

Due to capitalists profit motives, new technology is used to build roads faster, cheaper, stronger and that last for longer. Roads which require less maintenance are cheaper to operate and drivers pay less.

Transport - Buses, Trains, Planes

With the private sector in full control of transportation, expect to see massive improvements to efficiency, speed, reliability and cost. Private owners of bus, train, plane and ferry companies are always looking to maximise profit by improving efficiency.

Whether that's by building more double decker buses, larger and faster trains and planes, the desire for profit undoubtedly makes things better. Without tax on flights for example, prices drop by at least a third, saving flyers money, increasing ticket sales and producing more capital for airlines to reinvest into improving their craft.

In today's system, there's little motivation to improve group transportation. The government steals your money and spends it incompetently. Irrespective of the results, there's no threat of them going out of business, as they're not in business, they're in crime. Which means we all suffer from traffic jams, over crowded buses and trains, long wait times and expensive tickets.

In a capitalistic civilization, the private sector creates more comfortable buses, planes and trains that are faster and travel more often. Why? Because entrepreneurs want your money and can only get it by trade. It's that simple. If an entrepreneur cannot profit, he loses. When he loses too much, someone else buy's his business and rebuilds it better.

Garbage

The private individual in UR is unbound by monopolized legislation which restricts him from creating unique solutions to deal with trash and recycling. Without centralised dictatorships, rubbish handling efficiency improves tremendously.

A larger focus on recycling is beneficial for the environment, saves business owners money and lowers consumer prices for recycled goods. When private companies compete to collect your trash, prices inevitably fall as garbage collection efficiency improves.

Charity - Elderly, Disabled, Homelessness

Charity is only valuable if it's charitable, ie, provided with consent. Forced charity (tax) isn't charitable, it's a crime. There are no pensions or disability support provided by governments in UR. Yet, there's unlimited opportunity for private charity's, run as for profit businesses, to support those in need. In today's climate where individuals are robbed more and more in a never ending crusade to strip them of wealth, people still donate to charity.

There are many solutions that can solve homelessness and support the disabled and elderly. None of those solutions require the initiation of force.

Insurance

Insurance is great, when it's voluntary, like all other things in life. Whether it's for your car, health, security, home or business, insurance has a place in UR.

Water, Electricity, Gas

Without government intervention, availability of alternative energy sources becomes abundant. Water, electricity and gas, like everything else, are fully privatized. When prices are too high, capitalism provides competition to lower them while concurrently improving quality.

The more electricity independence we have, the more reliable our power is. When there's problems with power today, many people are effected simultaneously. With independent energy systems, the threat of centralised failure becomes non-existent.

Abortion

Potential is not actual. You cannot sacrifice the living to the non-living. All have the right to bodily autonomy. If a woman requires an abortion, it's her right. A fetus is not an individual, living human being. Until it's born, it doesn't possess human rights. The case for viable fetus rights depends on the survivability of the fetus when removed from the womb.

Borders

In UR, all land is privately owned and borders are set by private property owners, who have the right to secure their land. There are no governing bodies controlling land, air and water; only individuals managing their own property. You can travel internationally provided the airline permits it and you're not pursued by private security. Freedom of movement is a right, restricted only by property owners.

Critics of mass immigration from poor to rich countries often cite government support for unproductive migrants as a concern. In welfare-free UR, migrants must be self-sufficient to move. Instead of mass migration, capitalists hire migrants for cheap labor, creating a holistic benefit for communities.

Conformity to the law is inescapable, but if migrants commit crimes, they're treated like any other criminal, potentially boosting the private justice sector and creating opportunities for new business in security, courts, and rehabilitation.

Religion

All have the freedom to believe as they wish, provided they don't use force to spread their faith. UR is a system of reason, not faith, and advocates of reason aim to assist believers of supernatural mysticism to abandon their faith in exchange for reality. Provided both sides don't initiate force, all are free to speak and hold whatever ideas they wish.

Fire

The fire brigade works like any other business contractor. When there's a fire, they're called as per normal and simply charge whoever required the service. If they begin to charge too much, competition arises and lowers costs. There are also volunteer fire fighters who function via donations.

Internet, Post & Phone

Private companies handle internet, post and phone services. Unburdened by government regulation, prices drop and quality rises. If telecommunication companies install equipment which has harmful EMF effects, then it's much easier to correct this in a society which functions by law, not political whims. Without taxes and tariffs, postal services are cheaper and there's more competition, further decreasing prices.

Beaches, Parks, Toilets, Forests, Rivers, Libraries

All property in UR is private and individuals can use their land as they choose—some may keep a beach to themselves, while others may develop it into a business. Privatizing areas like parks, rivers, lakes and beaches improves maintenance and cleanliness, as private facilities outperform public ones.

While it may seem like everything requires payment now, you were already paying too much for public spaces through taxes. This system charges you only for what you use, benefiting local entrepreneurs instead of distant politicians. Rules and policies are set by private owners, who create fair regulations to attract customers and maintain order.

Drugs

All drugs are legal in UR because you have the sovereign right to do with your body as you wish. This significantly lowers crime and drug induced injuries. For the full breakdown, watch the video.

Intellectual Property

IP laws are invalid in UR because it's not a crime to copy, only to steal. When you thieve, you deprive the owner of his property. When you copy, you don't. The world is a much better place when violence isn't used against those who simply copy and improve ideas.

Foreign Affairs

The primary foreign affair in UR is between private individuals and their businesses. Businesses cooperate and trade like they do today, except without tariffs. Due to a simplified trading process, there's more imports and exports worldwide as international trade is now much easier, faster, simpler and cheaper.

A secondary foreign affair is between private militias and is only relevant in times of training or war.

Countries & Nationality

The idea of countries & nations changes overtime from a jurisdictional territory of a ruling monopoly to simply a place of geographical identification and cultural uniqueness.

Over Population

A real concern of UR is over population. With health and life expectancy soaring, educational strategies need to be implemented to limit excessive reproduction. Rational methods to limit over population include, legalised abortion, cheaper and easier access to psychological support and better educational systems.

In simple terms, if every couple has two children, the population maintains. More than two, it grows. If managed correctly, the world could theoretically and comfortably sustain 10 to 100 times it's current population. However, there's always a limit on a finite planet. To avoid reaching it and descending into a state of warfare and self extermination, we must prioritize education and improve the quality of our societies.

There are many studies demonstrating it's likely that lower economic status, education levels, life satisfaction and diminished health unfortunately leads to higher fertility rates.

  • "The Relationship Between Socioeconomic Status and Fertility in the United States": This study published in the journal Demography discusses how lower socioeconomic status is associated with higher fertility rates. (Source: Demography, 2010)
  • "Education and Fertility: Evidence from a Natural Experiment": This research published in the American Economic Journal examines how increased educational attainment leads to lower fertility rates. (Source: American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, 2010)
  • "The Effect of Education on Fertility: Evidence from a Natural Experiment": This study analyzes the impact of education on fertility decisions, showing that higher education correlates with lower birth rates. (Source: Journal of Human Resources, 2011)
  • "Happiness and Fertility: A Study of the Relationship Between Happiness and Fertility in the United States": This research explores how life satisfaction and mental health can influence fertility decisions. (Source: Social Indicators Research, 2015)
  • "Health and Fertility: The Role of Health in Fertility Decisions": This study discusses how health status can impact reproductive choices and fertility rates. (Source: Population Studies, 2012)
  • World Bank Reports: The World Bank has published various reports indicating that higher poverty levels are associated with higher fertility rates in developing countries. (Source: World Bank, "World Development Report 2012: Gender Equality and Development")

To combat elevated fertility rates, it's crucial to ensure everyone becomes as wealthy, happy and healthy as possible. A civilisation built upon reason, individuality and happiness is a superior weapon against over population than any amount of wars and depop agendas.
